My wonderful friend Abi was kind enough to photograph my 2009 calendar. If you were not sure how it looks and functions, hopefully this will help. Also, if you plan to get married in the Keys or are taking a vacation down there and would like some portraits, contact Abi. She'll take good care of you!
Buy one, or two...here. :)
My friend Julie ordered one, and had this to say:
Mine came today! Thanks Marit!
You guys, it's SO AWESOME!!! Every page has different fonts and graphics so you'll never get sick of looking at the same thing month after month. The print, paper, and plastic holder are also extremely high quality. It's so adorable sitting on my desk!

Featured Testimonial: Laura!
Laura is one of my few local brides that I had the opportunity of meeting with over coffee. I shared my invitation samples with her and her fiancé Drew, and I knew instantly they were going to be a ton of fun to work with. They are getting married at the Columbus Museum of Art next year, and wanted something a little "artsy-funky." After seeing their amazing engagement shots from Kitty Mauer, I wanted to add a little bit of a vintage feel to their design. You can see what I came up with, along with a wonderful testimonial from Laura on her blog Bridal Cheek.
Thanks Laura!

Featured Testimonial: Sara!
I have been fortunate enough to design wedding invitations for a number of my friends and family. Sara and Ryan had two ceremonies, so it meant double the wedding stationary. But, that's okay--because they were so great to work with (Sara is an amazing cook and their fridge is always stocked with adult beverages)!
Sara and Ryan were the first ones to send out my boarding pass save the date. I designed it especially for their wedding, and it's become one of my most popular designs. It's such a different and fun way to announce a destination wedding--and the graphic in the corner can easily be switched out to suit the ceremony location.

Their passes had a lot of information, so they did two pages. I flooded the back with a pattern of the tropical flower and designed a custom wrap around label. Standard passes are one page, and printed one side--but if you like it like this, just ask!
Next up, the Mexico wedding invitation. Because there were going to be many pieces and parts, I designed this piece to be held together with a pocketfolder. The inserts included a list of events (snorkeling and a dinner on the beach!) and some important spanish translations (such as "Congratulations Ryan and Sara!") and the RSVP postcard. I named this invite "Ka-Bloom!" because of the punch of color you see when the invite is opened.

Once they returned from exchanging their vows in Mexico, Sara and Ryan had a celebration in their hometown. It was important to them to send out a save the date, so that all guests felt like they were a part of their big day--even if they didn't make the trek to Mexico. Sara decorated the tables in beautiful Mexico decor and arranged Peonies on the tables. The guests received this "teaser" in the mail:

And finally, the best for last! Their hometown reception invitation, "Blooms and Stripes." This is one of my favorite designs, I love the contrast of the stripes with the bold blooms. The colors can be changed to match any wedding theme--but these look so nice together!

Here's what Sara has to say:
Marit did both save the date's and invitations for our Mexican wedding and our stateside reception this past summer. She was a pleasure to work with and the finished products were absolutely perfect! I didn't really have a vision in my head when we began of what I wanted, so I know that I was a difficult customer. Marit would send me small design elements and colors to help determine what I liked and always came up with the perfect thing. I didn't really want all of the elements to be of the same theme and as a result each piece she did for us was completely unique. Since we were having a destination wedding she had the brilliant idea to make a "boarding pass" style save the date that looked like a plane ticket! We used more traditional styles for the formal invitation as well as our stateside save the date and invitation. Marit had great ideas for keeping costs under control and was able to make suggestions tailored to our budget. Her work (and her personality!) is fun and vibrant, and the pieces she designed for us have become treasured mementos. They were so beautiful that a friend commissioned a custom piece of art for us as a wedding gift that was made from all of the pieces Marit designed!

2009 Desk Calendar Available for pre-order!
I know we have a few months before we ring in the new year, but why not be prepared with a Marit Hanson Weddings desk calendar?
This past year was very busy for me, and I thank each and every one of you who made that possible! I truly enjoyed working with all of my brides. I've been very fortunate to receive an outpour of compliments and some of the nicest emails--I've even blushed a few times. It is so rewarding to be a part of such a big day for so many people.
I decided to take a sampling of my work and design a desktop calendar. The cards measure 4 3/4" x 5 1/2" and are proudly displayed in a jewel case. I am hoping to get a few cranked out and photographed in the next couple weeks, but will post the calendar itself here shortly. Stay tuned!
If you are interested in pre-ordering, please send me an email. Calendars will be $15 + $2 shipping for US orders ($4 international) and will be mailed in heavy-duty corrugated mailers for added protection!
I will post an announcement here when they are available on Etsy!

Here's what Paula has to say:
After looking at far too many pearly white invitations with embossed hearts, we nearly cried tears of joy when we came across Marit's work. Her style is the perfect mix of fun and sophistication. Even better, the postcard style response cards created less waste than traditional response cards. Marit was amazing to work with- she was extremely quick with sending proofs and very understanding when an indecisive bride kept changing her mind about the wording. I've recommended her to all the engaged couples we know!

Featured Testimonial: Jennie!
Jennie is a good friend of mine, and is the reason that my wedding business got started! We were sitting at her kitchen table one evening flipping through wedding magazines when she mentioned that she still needed to do her wedding stationary. I was all, "DO YOU REALIZE WHO IS SITTING ACROSS THE TABLE FROM YOU?" She hit herself on the forehead, and we immediately started concepting.
She and Chad had a black and white wedding--with splashes of chartreuse. Their big day was planned for a Friday, rather than the typical Saturday. For that reason, I suggested their save the date to reflect their big day as an event--like a concert that you might attend on a Friday night. Jennie was sold on the idea, and I got to work. Once the "poster" was designed, I thought we could go the extra mile and make it even more official by creating "tickets" and matching address labels that would pop on the beautiful chartreuse envelopes.
Here are Jennie's save the dates, which have been one of my most popular designs. They are available in just about any format-- flat card, postcard or poster!
Click here to see more photos of this "Event to Remember!"
The invitations strayed away from the concert poster design, but kept the same color palette. When guests saw that chartreuse envelope, they knew what was inside. This is one of my favorite invitations, and because it was the first one I designed--I promised the bride that it would be named, "The Jennie." This invite is a pocketfold with inserts. We sealed the pocketfolds shut with a sticker containing their monogram, then wrapped them in a bellyband that was a "teaser" to the invitation inside. Rather than tiering the inserts, I flooded the back with a black and white damask style pattern. The bold pattern provided nice contrast against the chartreuse pocket.
Here are her invitations:

Jennie's wedding was beautiful--hands down, one of the prettiest weddings I've been to. I was easy to spot, because I was dressed like the invitation. Nothing like self promotion! The lovely lady on the left is my wonderful friend, Sara, whose invitations will be featured here soon!
Here's what Jennie has to say:
"I was nothing short of thrilled with Marit's design work for my Save the Date cards and wedding invitations. I went in with a foggy idea of what I wanted and she transformed all of my broad ideas and magazine clippings into a totally original work of art! She was incredibly easy to work with and delivered everything in a timely (and affordable!) manner. The process was actually fun! I received so many raves about both the invitations and save the date cards…it really made the day that much more special. I love our STD so much I have it framed in our bedroom. I will continue to recommend Marit to all of my family and friends!"
