I am so excited to share this new invitation with you. I had the opportunity to work with Teal to create a custom invitation design for her vintage yet modern wedding in Columbus, Ohio. We met over lunch and talked about all the details of her wedding, from the venue and the flowers to her beautiful lace dress and wedding colors of gray/orange. And how cute is it that both their names and her new last name all begin with "t?" These were all elements that I wanted to play up, while still keeping it sophisticated.
After a few rounds of designs, this is what the couple chose to represent their big day. I am calling this design "Tea for Two," a double reference hinting at the lace/doily pattern and the amazing couple I was able to work with to create it!

Let there be cake!
I must have confections on my mind or something. I signed on to write this post and noticed my last post was about cookies. What can I say, I've got a weakness for sweets. Especially when they look so pretty with my wedding stationery designs.
I was thumbing threw my Martha Stewart Weddings magazine on the way to visit my family in Missouri this past weekend when I came across a cake that would be SO PERFECT for Wendy and Frank's wedding. I designed these invitations especially for them:
Buy a sample of "He Loves Me..."
Now, take a look at this cake from Martha Stewart Weddings and tell me it's not a match made in sugary, gum-paste heaven:

If you are feeling adventurous or are an experienced pasty chef, you can get directions on how to make this cake here. Martha claims that the petals can be made in four steps. Throw that apron on and you be the judge!

Invitations for Danielle and Brent's Holiday Wedding!
I had the pleasure of working with Danielle at my agency job. She left last year to start a new life with her then boyfriend, Brent in another state. I was so excited when she contacted me to do her wedding invitations. We'd be working together again, on a project near and dear to her heart...her wedding stationery!
Danielle and Brent LOVE the holidays. When they got engaged, they knew their big day would be right before Christmas. As we talked about their invitations, the couple emphasized that this was to be a HOLIDAY wedding. She went so far as to say, if she were allowed--the bridal party would even be dressed as elves. They could even come down the aisle in a sleigh. I love Danielle, her sense of humor made this project all that much more fun.
After sifting through different winter landscapes and other holiday things, we landed on snowflakes. I was stingy with them in the earlier layouts. Danielle emailed me and said, can we have MORE snowflakes (evidently her fiance, Brent, was "all about the snowflakes!") The color palette was red and silver, so we printed the invitations in red and backed them on a piece of shimmery silver cardstock, which matched the envelopes. The final touch (and my favorite part!) was the band that held them together. I wanted to spread the theme of Christmas to the wrap, but without having snowflake overkill. The perfect message popped into my head, "On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me..." They loved it! I'm so pleased with how these came out.
Without further ado, here is the latest to my invitation collection:
"Marry Christmas!"

Tie one on
I've posted many things for brides and thought I should share something for the grooms out there. And what a better place to go looking than etsy!
I came across the Cyberoptix TieLab. Not only do they create single ties, you can purchase them for your entire bridal party. And what is even more awesome, is that they have a tie that would go PERFECTLY with my "We heart New York" invitation set.

New Invite: Art Deco!
You might remember my post a few weeks ago showing my new Art Deco style save the date, that comes in a neat little "matchbook." t
I just finished the matching invitation and I am so excited to show it to you! A layered effect is created by attaching a bold backer card to this invitation with matching brads. I hope that Janna and Jeremy love them as much as I do.

Dress up your envelope with Custom Postage!
Give your guests a taste of what's on the inside. I offer custom postage designs for all my invites. These personalized stamps are a really fun way to include the "inside" of your invitations on the outside.
The stamp pictured above goes with my "Ka-Bloom!" invitation set, seen here:
Don't let your wedding "brand" live within the envelope, bring it to the outside!

Featured Testimonial: Elisa!
I worked with Elisa last year on her save the dates for her destination wedding. She loved them so much, that she decided to do her invites with me as well. You can read what she had to say about her save the dates here.
For her invitations, we did the Blooms and Stripes using her wedding palette. I love how they came out!

Other than the invitations, I did many other pieces for Elisa's wedding. She was kind enough to send me this photo:
Here's what Elisa had to say:
"Marit is simply the best! She designed our save-the-dates, invitations, programs, escort cards, dinner menus and thank-you note cards for our wedding. Everything was so well coordinated! I received many wonderful compliments. Marit is incredibly patient, understanding and reliable. She was a pleasure to work with via e-mail and made my life stress-free during the entire planning process. Marit's work is original, fresh and memorable. I have repeatedly told friends that I can not imagine why anyone would want to sit in a store for hours flipping through large, dated and oversized books of wedding invitations when you have Marit's creative vision and style to pull everything together for your big day! Now that we are married, I hate that I do not have an excuse to work with Marit and be apart of a fun process. (I am sure my mother and mother-in-law would say, "How 'bout a baby announcement by Marit"...eek!)"

Featured Testimonial: Michele!
From time to time, I get emails from girls who love two of my invitations and want to marry the two together. That's the beauty of my invitations, they can all be customized just for you. A few months ago, I was contacted by Michele. She loved the format of my tiered frond invitations but the design of the tea length damask invites. No problem! I worked with her via email and this is what we came up with:

**I don't have samples of these on my etsy site yet, but if you would like one to email me.
Here is what Michele had to say:
"It was such a pleasure working with Marit! She is super talented and creative. She was also very responsive to any questions or concerns I had. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy the whole process was. Marit was able to merge two of her existing designs to fit our style. When I received the invitations, I was so excited to put them together. My fiance and I were extremely pleased with how they turned out. I look forward to working with her on programs, escort cards, and table numbers soon! Thanks for everything Marit!"
Thank you Michele!

Featured Testimonial: Anne!
I had the pleasure of working with Anne on her save the dates this summer. She was so much fun to work with, her great sense of humor combined with her sense of style made the whole process that much more enjoyable. I frequently visit her "wedsite" to get a good laugh, and I am really bummed out that I don't live closer. Because THAT is a wedding that I would love to crash! No doubt, Anne and Tom have a blast together and will lead quite the adventurous life. I just hope she keeps up the blogging to keep me entertained.

Here is what Anne has to say:
Thank you so much for putting our vision into action. You took exactly what we had in mind and were able to implement it to a tee. It was so easy to convey that idea an it really took no time at all to get the idea and look we wanted. You were always available to answer questions and help bounce ideas off of.
We thank you so much for all your creative work and time. Especially considering some of the "special" requests we had, it was above and beyond and so very appreciated. The paper, the specific color match, and all the details really make a difference and are so noticeable. So thank you for all your hard work and I can't wait to continue to work with you.

Featured Invitation: Calla Lillies!
Every Monday, I have been posting a featured testimonial from past clients. I am waiting for more feedback to come in---and some feedback that I have, I don't have the invitations photographed. So, I am going to start posting "Featured Invitation" on Mondays as well. If I have created wedding stationary for you in the past, and you have not appeared on my site (and would like to!), I'd love to post your kind words here. I have a few testimonials still to post, but I don't have photographs of the work. I will try to get that taken care of so that no one is left out!
In the meantime, here is one of my newer designs created especially for Nancy and Bony-Mike. She is having a calla lily bouquet and requested a simple and elegant design using them--with hints of brown and copper. Here is what I came up with:

Here's what Paula has to say:
After looking at far too many pearly white invitations with embossed hearts, we nearly cried tears of joy when we came across Marit's work. Her style is the perfect mix of fun and sophistication. Even better, the postcard style response cards created less waste than traditional response cards. Marit was amazing to work with- she was extremely quick with sending proofs and very understanding when an indecisive bride kept changing her mind about the wording. I've recommended her to all the engaged couples we know!

"I just received my wedding invitations and they are so beautiful! Seeing the date, our names & everything down on paper at last is so exciting & makes everything so tangible and REAL. I dreamed about my invitations as a little girl but as a bride there's so much to do planning-wise ... my Maid of Honor decided to give these to me as gift & I couldn't be happier with the results. You've captured my colors perfectly with the navy & celery, and I love how the invitations are earthy looking & simple while still on-trend & totally unique."

Featured Testimonial: Danielle!
Danielle and Sam were married on a golf course this Spring. Rather than do anything cheesy with golf balls, tees or clubs, I designed her materials with a polka dot theme. Take a close look at a golf ball, and you'll find "polka dots" covering the ball– that's where this idea came from. The corners of the invitation and information cards were rounded to further hint at a golf ball--and to jazz it up a little bit. The corners of the RSVP postcard remained square due to USPS mailing requirements.

Here's what Danielle has to say:
"Marit did a tremedous job on our save-the-date and wedding invitations. I wanted something simple and modern but not boring and that is exactly what she did. Marit was willing to modify and to suggest new ideas when my first concept did not come out quite like I wanted. She has such a tasteful eye.
The location of our wedding was on a golf course and I wanted the invite to hint at that theme but not to scream golf. The design she came up with had small dots in our coordinating colors that were perfect.
In addition to her creative side, Marit also has very strong customer service skills, She was willing to meet during the evenings and weekends. She also managed my project on a great budget. She is dedicated to making her clients happy.
She is a very talented designer and she helped to make this wedding so memorable. I would recommend her to everyone for any special event."

Featured Testimonial: Julie!
Julie is one of my few "local" brides. It was nice to meet with her and talk about her wedding face-to-face. It's a luxury that I don't often have. After a few discussions and a meeting or two, I came up with a design for her wedding at the Franklin Park Conservatory, a beautiful venue here in Columbus. The invite had three parts, which were placed into a pretty coco brown backer card that was held together by gold brads. I also created a custom wrap around label adorning the frond design from the invitation:

Here's what Julie had to say:
The invitations you went into the mail a week ago, and I've been so excited about the e-mails, calls and texts I've been getting from guests about how unique and beautiful they are. So many people are commenting about the wrap-around address/return address label -- and that was my favorite part too.
I really wanted something different than the million-layer, expensive-paper, everyone-has-them invitations, and that's exactly what Marit gave me. The invitation is unique, beautiful and is perfectly suited to our venue (Franklin Park Consevatory Palm House).
It's been great working with Marit, and I especially appreciated the quick reponses. I've already recommended her to friends, and I'll continue to.

Featured Testimonial: Julie!
I have been fortunate to work with Julie on all her wedding materials. She has been really easy to work with, and I really love how these invitations turned out. Julie wanted a bold and modern look to her invites, and wanted lots of green! We went with accents of chartreuse and moss to match her bridesmaids dresses. I am looking forward to creating her programs and table numbers to see how all of it will come together.

Featured Testimonial: Janet!
My friend Sherri, who happens to be a very talented photographer, referred her best friend Janet to me. Janet was a joy to work with; she came prepared with not only examples of style she likes but also fonts and color palettes! She had a good idea of what she wanted and trusted me to put it on paper. After exchanging a few emails, I got a really good sense for her wedding. Janet had save the date cards made with a vintage style photograph of the Brooklyn Bridge, taken by Sherri. She wanted her invitations to be stepping stone from the save the date cards. Janet expressed that she'd love her invites to contain New York City landmarks for her Brooklyn wedding. This is what I came up with:

Thank you SO much - they are gorgeous! They look even better in person. I love them! Thank you thank you thank you! I And really, don't be surprised if you start getting some referrals from my wedding planner because she was really impressed. I'll definitely be handing out your business card to folks.

Featured Testimonial: Amanda!
Amanda's maid of honor contacted me about creating invitations for her close friend as a wedding present. Working with the two girls was really easy, and it was awesome to hear the reaction of both of them regarding the invitations.
The girls chose my "Surf's Up" invitation, and switched the colors around to fit the theme of the wedding. I also changed up the typeface to something a little more fun for Amanda.

Newest addition!
This is my latest design, which I have oh-so-creatively named: "Blooms and Stripes." I love it, and so did Sara! The bold flower illustration paired with the powerful stripes make a great combination – and a striking presentation when the envelope (complete with a matching label!) is opened.
I am really excited to see the reactions that these invitations get. And once Sara gets back from her wedding in Mexico, I hope to post her feedback with you here. I just couldn't wait for her to share them with you!
